Here's how.

    Bring a saucepan of water to the boil. Cook the dry whole-wheat pasta according to its packet.

  2. 02

    Add the washed broccoli florets to the pasta water for the final 4 minutes, or cook separately until just tender. Reserve a small cup of cooking water, then drain.

  3. 03

    Warm the oil and finely chopped garlic gently in the pan for 1 minute without browning. Toss in the pasta and broccoli with lemon juice and a little reserved water.
